NBC News seeks NY based interns for theGrio.com

NBC News / theGrio.com Intern Qualifications:

NBC NEWS has 2 openings for fall interns at theGrio.com.

TheGrio is NBC's video-centric news website dedicated to producing stories of
African-American interest. At just over one year old, the site is one of NBC
News' fastest growing new ventures – with a dedicated audience of loyal users.

Intern candidates for theGrio should have a strong interest in African-American
news and culture. They should have experience in web production, publishing and
writing for the web, and editing on Avid. Experience shooting and producing
original video content is preferred.

In a tight-knit and fast-paced work environment much like many Internet
start-ups, theGrio's interns will gain hands-on experience running the website.
They will also have the opportunity to assist digital journalists and the site's
editors with pre-production, fieldwork and editing multiple 2 – 3 minute daily
news packages that will live on the site – and are often broadcast on NBC
affiliates and other platforms.

Interns are also relied upon for their social media skills. A high comfort level
with Facebook and twitter is a must – as are impeccable writing skills. Strong
news judgment will be needed for monitoring the wires, web, and partners for
content.

This is a non-paid position with an approximate end date of December 2010.
Interns must receive college credit (or a letter of recognition from a
university) and must be able to work at least two days a week.

Qualified candidates should email info@thegrio.com with the subject line: 2010
FALL INTERN CANDIDATE. Please attach resume and writing samples.
