Below are the three sorts of interns we seek. This is for summer as well as for fall and spring semesters, and fulltime interns are strongly preferred. These are not paid positions. Please let me know if you need any more information, and thanks for your response.
Applicants should send a cover letter, resume and a small selection of published clips (for the first two internships) to debrabruno@rollcall.com. No phone calls, please.

• Interns with Roll Call primarily write feature stories for the Around the Hill section, which can include book reviews, museum openings, gallery shows, films, food and events around town In addition, interns may be asked to cover press conferences or to assist with the Heard on the Hill column (the gossip column), or to help reporters and editors with investigative tasks. The positions require some journalism experience.
• Interns with CongressNow write stories about hearings and other Congressional news events. The number of stories for a full-time intern will range from 5 to 10 in a typical week. Interns will have regular interaction with Members of Congress and their aides, and they will learn about how Congress works behind the scenes. Positions require some journalism experience (professional or college newspaper) and an interest in public policy.
• GalleryWatch, Roll Call’s legislative tracking service, offers a great opportunity to learn about the legislative process and policy issues in a newsroom environment. Assignments include posting materials online, legislative research projects and retrieving documents from committee hearings. Interns with writing experience may also report on news conferences and committee hearings for Roll Call’s legislative newswire CongressNow.
