GLAMOUR MAGAZINE EDITORIAL INTERNSHIP: Glamour magazine’s features department seeks college juniors, seniors and graduate students who can receive course credit for a 10-week internship beginning June 15. Interns should have experience writing and reporting for student, local or other publications and have a true passion and interest in magazine journalism as a career. Duties will include administrative tasks as well as reporting, interviewing, research, idea generation and the possibility of writing for glamour.com. (This internship is in features, not beauty or fashion, so applicants should have interests in a wide range of topics such as health, women’s issues, news, politics, sex, relationships and other areas.) The position is unpaid, but does have a stipend of $12 a day. The Independent Media Internship Program
The Media Consortium's Independent Media Internship program is for undergrad and graduate students committed to smart, independent journalism. Interns will be matched with a Media Consortium member organization (magazine, online news site, television network, radio network/program) for three months in Summer or Fall of 2009. We are placing interns in Washington DC, New York and San Francisco. Interns are responsible for their own lodgings and can mark location preference in the application.

Interns will receive a stipend of $2,000 for twelve 32-hour work weeks. Over this three month period, interns will complete one or more major editorial projects, have weekly duties (including fact-checking, research, writing and media production) and meet with top editors and reporters for mentoring sessions. Four individuals will be placed in our Summer program (May 18-August 14) and another four will be placed in our Fall program (September 14-December 11). We are accepting applications for both semesters.

MTV is searching for hosts / VJs for our on-campus college network: mtvU. Knowledge of music trivia, music's major players, music history and the industry is desired. A background in journalism, communications or music is ideal. Must be willing to live in NYC.

Roll Call Internships
Below are the three sorts of interns we seek. This is for summer as well as for fall and spring semesters, and fulltime interns are strongly preferred. These are not paid positions. Please let me know if you need any more information, and thanks for your response.

• Interns with Roll Call primarily write feature stories for the Around the Hill section, which can include book reviews, museum openings, gallery shows, films, food and events around town In addition, interns may be asked to cover press conferences or to assist with the Heard on the Hill column (the gossip column), or to help reporters and editors with investigative tasks. The positions require some journalism experience.
• Interns with CongressNow write stories about hearings and other Congressional news events. The number of stories for a full-time intern will range from 5 to 10 in a typical week. Interns will have regular interaction with Members of Congress and their aides, and they will learn about how Congress works behind the scenes. Positions require some journalism experience (professional or college newspaper) and an interest in public policy.
• GalleryWatch, Roll Call’s legislative tracking service, offers a great opportunity to learn about the legislative process and policy issues in a newsroom environment. Assignments include posting materials online, legislative research projects and retrieving documents from committee hearings. Interns with writing experience may also report on news conferences and committee hearings for Roll Call’s legislative newswire CongressNow.
